MIKE TERRAFINO ROCKS LAKE GENEVA RACEWAY IN THE F200’S

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin — Lake Geneva Raceway rocked southern Wisconsin when the Burris Circle Tour returned to see Mike Terrafino win the Sr. F200 class of this renowned Kart Racing Series.  Terrafino, the top qualifier swapped positions with Chris Lishamer during the tight feature race.  Ashley Hieronimus made a clean sweep of the F200 Jr. 3 with the fast qualifying time, win in the heat race and the feature.

The rocking and rolling continued when the Champ F200 Jr. 3’s took to the track.  In the feature, the leaders were in a dead heat at the white flag.  Corey Domenick had the inside line and Mitchell Garfield took the outside.  Garfield set up his pass going around the final turns.  The drivers were wheel to wheel coming to the stripe with Garfield coming out on top.  Colton Clevenger earned the final podium position and John Beinlich posted the fastest lap in the class at 19.727 around the 1/5th mile oval.  The Champ F200 Jr. 2 finish was a nail biter when Jacob Zellmer held steady to cross just ahead of Mackenzie Piller.  Ryan Marshall outlasted Brad Becker, Mike Nitti and Angelo Karakozis for the win in Sr. Champs.

Aaron Katzenberg was as cool as frozen lemonade from the Patti Wagon Ice Cream as he took an early lead in Sr. Lite and let the rest fight for position behind him.  Nick Chiapetta, always a front runner looked to be moving in slow motion as he got out of the draft and the train went by.  Tyler Peterson spent the rest of the race finding a way around veteran driver and area Late Model Standout Jake Humphrey.  In the closing turns Peterson found the opening to finish second while Chiapetta worked back up into sixth position.  Today’s race gave Katzenberg more breathing room at the top of the class points standings and catapulted him into second place in the overall points chase – just 1 point behind Champ F200 Jr. 3 driver Max McNamara.

Mikie Briener slipped by Dave Terrafino for the win in the Sr. Sportsman Class, Damien Jenks was in fine form winning the Jr. 3 Class and Heidi Goodman won Jr. 2 after splitting the heat races with Mike Flores.  Brent Edmunds won his 7th feature of the year in the Jr. Sportsman Champ class and is now in 3rd position in the overall points chase. Mavrick Piller and Christian Janssen were tops in Kid Kart Champ Karts and Kid Karts.

The action is really heating up near the end of the season.  With only three regular season races left to go, many points battles are still up for grabs and the overall points battle has the top 10 racers within 60 points.  The end of the season is sure to be one of the most exciting in the tour’s 8 year history.  The next race is scheduled at Rockford (IL) Speedway on September 11th.   For scheduling and race information, visit the website at www.karts.net/burriscircle.
