FIRSTKART.COM RACE TEAM SCORES FOUR VICTORIES AND SIX PODIUMS AT STARS OF KARTING EVENT

“Zach Schiff secures Eastern 80cc Junior championship while Gustavo Yacaman takes over JICA point lead”

Guelph, Ontario, Canada — Looking to keep the momentum from last weekend’s six podium performance at the World Karting Association Manufactures Cup event in Indiana, the FirstKart.com race team secured four victories and six more podiums at the Stars of Karting event held at USA International Raceway.

Leading the team in results was once again the junior drivers as First Kart pilots swept the victories in both the 80cc Junior and JICA categories. 15-year-old Zach Schiff claimed both shifter finals in demanding fashion and with the victories secured the Eastern division points championship with one race still remaining. Schiff did double duty all weekend long and took the checkers in Sunday’s JICA class while Colombian Gustavo Yacaman led the field on Saturday. With Yacaman’s first and fifth place results, he moves into the Eastern division point lead and will look to secure the title at the next event in one month’s time.

Other junior driver’s in contention this weekend were David Carmendy and David Ostellla. Carmendy was quick from the first practice session posting times at the top of the charts and backed it up with strong qualifying runs. Some bad luck would plague the Ohio pilot as he came home in 17th and 9th. Ostella continued to impress and improve forward all weekend long scoring a 10th and 11th place finishes.

Mark Jensen, Nick Maddison, Daniel Morad and Bobby Wilson would be the TM by SRA powered FirstKart.com entries in the ICC division as the quartet would all look to be victorious on the beautiful new circuit. Wilson would lead the field as the only driver to podium both days coming home in second and third. Daniel Morad showed his driving capabilities in the rain as the current Sunoco Ron Fellows Formula Senior point leader scored a seventh place finish in Saturday’s rain soaked final. Sunday would prove unlucky for Morad as he was involved in a pre-final wreck and would be forced to start the feature from 29th position. The young Canadian moved forward with poise and claimed the 12th position.

Hot off his fifth place finish in Chilliwack, BC. Nick Maddison was prepared to do battle in Wisconsin. The Calgary, AB native ran inside the top ten all weekend long scoring a tenth place result in Saturday’s main event. Looking to improve on Sunday, Maddison was involved in a mid race incident that took him out of contention eventually being classified in the 24th position. In only his second ICC race ever, Floridian Mark Jensen finished 33rd and 29th respectively. ICA rookie Chris Friel keeps improving with every event and managed two twelfth place finishes at the end of the weekend.
