MRP OF SOUTH BEND HOSTS CHARITY KARTING EVENT
LaPorte, Indiana — Area kids in LaPorte County, near LaPorte, IN, will get an extra special Christmas this year thanks to area businesses and county officials. A charity karting event took place at MRP of South Bend, a completely refurbished kart racing facility located ten miles from South Bend, on Sunday, to help raise money for the “Deserving Kids Christmas Fund”.
“I wanted to get LaPorte area businesses involved in a great charity and have a lot of fun doing it,” said Dave Sudlow, owner of Sudlow Excavating and organizer of the event. “The bottom line is that this is all about giving back to our community and the kids here in LaPorte County. At the end of the day, we will all be winners.”
The event started at noon and was a 3-hour endurance format event with 36 drivers hand-picked from LaPorte businesses.
“Many of the drivers that will compete have had support pledges based on laps. The more laps you complete, the more money we can raise,” Sudlow said.
Sudlow approached MRP Motorsport owner, Garry Lobaugh, to host the event after helping with the refurbishment of the 15-year-old facility when the idea to put this charity event together.
“We are very excited to help out this charity in any way we can,” said Lobaugh. “We are no strangers to putting on charity karting events and it is definitely a fun and exciting alternative to your typical fundraiser.”
