“Six podium results in WKA Manufactures Cup event”
Guelph, Ontario, Canada — Under hot and humid conditions, the World Karting Association descended onto South Bend Raceway Park for the third stop in the George Kugler Manufactures Cup Series in South Bend, IN. With three 80cc Junior drivers in the paddock, hopes and pressure were put on them to garner some serious results.
Zach Schiff again led the way in the junior shifter class scoring both pole positions, pre-final victories and feature wins on his way to a perfect weekend. Only relinquishing the lead on one occasion in Sunday’s pre-final, the talented Ohio resident led every on track session but one in regards to fastest lap.
Dave Carmendy and David Ostella had good weekend results for the FirstKart.com race team as the duo managed another two podium results each to up the weekends total to six. Carmendy proved to be very fast all weekend and showed that he could be a threat for victory but was able to score third place results in both Saturday and Sunday’s feature events.
Ostella, the up-and-coming young Canadian, drove his FirstKart.com entry to a fourth and fifth place finishes respectively. Having some trouble in the early part of the weekend, Ostella kept his composure and continued to work on the areas that needed improvement. As the weekend wore on, Ostella constantly got quicker and quicker and was able to turn his quickest lap times of the weekend in Sunday’s feature events.
