SHOW ME THE MONEY, HONEY!

Austin, Texas — Money, money, money... It may not buy you love, but it sure buys a lot of tie rods. And when the Austin Grand Prix returns to Iron Rock Raceway on October 1 and 2, King Kash will rule the 125cc Senior Shifter class, with $2,000 going to the first place winner alone!

The Austin Grand Prix is the final race of the World Karting Association’s Southwest Regional Cup and is expected to draw the nation’s most accomplished racers. Austin Grand Prix 2004, which was held at a temporary track at a local shopping mall, attracted 113 race teams and awarded a single $2,000 purse.

Austin Grand Prix 05 will more than double that purse, offering $4,500 in awards for the 10 top racers of the 125cc Senior Shifter Kart class. First place will take home $2,000, second place will take $1,000 and third place will take $500.

“Now that we have a first-class track and clubhouse, we want to offer a first-class purse to match,” said Charlie Swayne, Iron Rock General Manager.

Purses will be determined by the combined points of the Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 races and will not be affected by SWRC point totals overall. This will give every 125cc Senior entrant an opportunity to compete for prize money on an even playing field.

“Even if you haven’t run any other SWRC race, you’ve got a chance to take home the money that weekend,” said Swayne.

The 2005 SWRC series consists of six race weekends. Two are held at Iron Rock, two at Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, Oklahoma and two at North Texas Kartway in Denton, Texas.
