KID KARTS RULE AT THE BURRIS CIRCLE TOUR

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin — Zaida Clevenger, from Cherry Valley, Illinois ruled the Lake Geneva track as the focus for the Burris Circle Tour turned to the Kid Kart Classes Sunday, June 19th. Zaida, a 3rd year karter, drove from the back of the pack to capture the fastest lap in the first heat race, won the Pit Stop Challenge, the second heat and the feature.
The highlight of the second heat race was the green flag pit stop by the Kid Karter crews. In the interest of the crew’s safety, there were no walls to jump. Each crew has to clean the windshield and to a quick 1 tire change. The Clevenger Racing Team set a new record of 1 minute 26 seconds (pit in to pit out). The Pit Challenge raised questions by the drivers about how a NASCAR team can do the same thing in 14 seconds. Obviously, the crews needed more practice.
This is Zaida’s 3rd feature win of the year and takes her rightful position in the center of the back row in the victory photo. Thaddeus Malosh led in the early going, then in a swift pass, Chrisitan Janssen and Joey Flores took the inside line. Zaida, moving up the outside skillfully worked her way through the field to capture the victory.
The Champ F200 Jr. 2’s put on great show the whole day. The top 4 karts you could cover with a blanket finishing the race within 3/10th of a second. Many laps had 4 different leaders during the lap as they jockeyed for position. Jacob Zellmer, the last leader fought off multiple challenges from the strong field. The order at the stripe was Zellmer, Dylan Barbosa, Mackenzie Piller and Colton Clevenger.
Brent Edmunds, Sean Clavey, Cody Lipstreuer and Elliott Prichett set the stage for the upcoming Durand Bulldog Sprints. After mixing it up for 15 laps, Edmunds and Sean Clavey swapped the fastest lap times with Edumunds winning the race and Clavey posting the fastest time. In the contest for third Cody Lipstreuer withstood an intense amount of pressure from Prichett to hold on to the last podium position.
The Burris Circle Tour takes the show to the Durand Bulldog Sprints for the upcoming holiday weekend. Thousands of spectators, TV and radio coverage and pro races for the Champ F200 Jr 3 and Sr. Lites create a one-of-a-kind event in downtown Durand, Illinois. The Bulldog Sprints are one of the few street races surrounding the track with plastic barricades, making the racing surface safe enough for young drivers. Massive support from the local community should make the weekend event exciting for the whole family. Information about the event can be found at www.karts.net/burriscirle.
