‘THINK FIRST FOUNDATION’ INVITES FORMER KARTER LEE TO VISIT METHODIST HOSPITAL PEDIATRIC PATIENTS

New York City, New York — As a race car driver, Twin Tooth Racing’s Matthew Lee knows a lot about taking risks and preventing accidents and, he wants to put his experience to work and help children make the right decisions in their own lives to stay safe.
 
The mature 15 year old Lee, has been selected as a spokesperson for the Think First National Injury Prevention Foundation, which uses education, research, and policy in the effort to reduce injury by encouraging children to ‘Think First’ and make the right decisions.
 
Lee, who will be carrying the ‘Think First’ logo and colors on his FBMW FB2 race car, will be visiting pediatric patients at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to talk about injury prevention, personal vulnerability, and risk taking this Friday in advance of his Formula BMW USA race weekend at the United States Grand Prix.
 
Lee is an advocate of all the protective and preventative measures that he must take when he races, and he will be emphasizing the importance of helmet safety to Methodist Hospital’s pediatric patients.
 
The visit, scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday, 17 June, is just one item on a busy race weekend schedule for the young New York native, who is racing in his first season in Formula BMW race cars after a successful career as a karter.
 
Formula BMW is the world’s leading entry-level class in Formula racing. In 2005 the series is being held in Germany, Britain, Asia and the USA. Up-and-coming drivers as young as 15 years of age are given the opportunity of entering motor racing with the high-tech, standard FB2 race car.
 
The ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation, formally known as the National Head and Spinal Cord Injury Prevention Program, was first implemented nationally in 1986.
 
ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation offers a research-validated multi-level educational program that has reached over 8 million young people nationally and internationally, has had major influences on public policy initiatives, and continues to expand to reach those most vulnerable to traumatic injuries. ThinkFirst provides health professionals with the impetus, tools, and support to assist in spreading the prevention message in their communities, especially to young people.
