VIRGINIA STUDENT BUILDS KART
NEWS BRIEF — Billy Shomada, 16, of Mechanicsville, Virginia had a visionary project in mind – to design and build a 750cc go-kart. After 6 months of labor and at a cost of only $600.00, Billy has built a +100 MPH vehicle complete with hydraulic brakes and roll cage. He planned, cut, bent and welded the tubing for the chassis, disassembled a Kawasaki 750 and used the engine, other components and exhaust on the kart. Billy’s dream is to be a mechanical engineer and has been asked to head a group of fellow high school students in a robotics competition.
