SEASON OPENER FOR RAGE KARTS HEARTLAND SPEEDWAY PAVEMENT CHAMPIONSHIPS
Concord, North Carolina — Round # 1 of the newly formed Rage Karts Heartland Speedway Pavement Championships takes place at USA International Raceway in Shawano, Wisconsin June 3 – 5.
New to the WKA National circuit, both the series and the track are welcomed with open arms by speedway competitors. Last year’s success of the single race asphalt oval event at Jamaica Raceway in Iowa prompted the start of the 3-race points series in 2005. While USAIR is the first to host a race for the series, Midstate Raceway in Illinois follows with race # 2 July 29 – 31, and race # 3 is hosted by Jamaica Raceway in Iowa – the Grand National event for the season. It is here drivers will be vying for the famed WKA Grand National Eagle and jacket.
USAIR (USA International Raceway), 35 miles west of Green Bay, was designed by WKA’s own Vice President Kenny Venberg. Built on a parcel of land that already included five concession go-kart tracks, bumper boats, a swimming pool, and mini golf, this facility is one to be admired by all. The fifth-mile asphalt oval that this weekend’s race will be run on is incorporated into a 30-feet wide, over a mile long sprint track consisting of gentle slopes and some severe elevation changes, as well as, a 1,000 foot flat-out straight-a-way.
