SNAP-ON STARS OF KARTING: GRAND PRIX OF RENO

Seattle, Washington — The Grand Prix of Reno will be the first temporary circuit race this season when the racers of the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL turn the parking lots and amphitheater of the Reno Hilton into their own personal speedrome June 3-5. In the headlining ICC class Californian karting stars Jason Bowles and Alex Speed are neck and neck at the top of the standings with Bowles holding a narrow 10 point margin ahead of his Northern Californian rival Speed.  The direct drive ICA class sees Helmut Sanden hold a much more commanding lead for his Mach 1 Kart team with Kevin Glover, Grant Hebner, Phil Giebler, Matt Johnson, and Giacomo Patrono all closely bunched behind in the second through sixth positions respectively.  There will also be a lot of eyes on Cole Whitt as the karting community will all want to see how he meshes with his new Michael Valiante run Italian Motors ride.

The junior classes will see plenty of young chargers doing their best to come to grips with the temporary circuit.  In the PCH Motorsports JICA class Jacob Neal of California and Xavier Coupal of Quebec will both try to keep the momentum rolling from their recent wins in Snap-on Stars series competition.  However, they’ll face tough competition from the likes of Colombian Gustavo Yacaman on his First Kart and Californian Brett Smrz on his Intrepid.  The King Taco Junior Shifter class will see Levi Roberts of Colorado and Connor DePhillipi resume a tight battle for the top spot in the series point standings which sees the two young shifter kart aces only six points apart.  The Grand Products Cadet class will see points leader Racquel Martinez do her best to fend off tough competition from defending West Division Cadet Champion Miles Maroney and consistent front runner Gustavo Menezes. Cory Pollock comes into the race with a comfortable points lead over closest challenger Sean Gilmartin in the Easykart class.

The weekend proves to be an action packed one with a party hosted by the Reno Hilton for all the drivers on Friday evening and significant area media promotion. For more info, see www.starsofkarting.com.
