‘STARS’ GET ROYAL TREATMENT AT THE INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Seattle, Washington — Some of the top karters from the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the Indy Racing League were introduced to the media at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday afternoon. Series co-owner Bryan Herta and his Andretti Green Racing team hosted the karters at a media event held in the AGR garage. The young guns on hand were Adam and Johnny Johnson of Marshalltown, IA, Jason Bowles of Ontario, CA, Wesley Boswell from San Francisco, CA, Phil Giebler of Oxnard, CA, and Kyle Wiegand of Greenwood, IN. Herta gave the karters an overview of his IndyCar, its cockpit, and the controls and adjustments inside it as well as answering questions from the media about the series, which serves as North America’s premier kart racing tour.
In addition to the event with the media the karters also got to tour the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum and be guests in the Andretti-Green hospitality area. Jason Bowles, Tony Kart’s ace in North American shifter kart racing was thoroughly impressed, “I’ve just got to thank Andretti-Green Racing and Bryan for hosting us here yesterday, this really gives me something to aim for.” “It’s a neat experience to see the ins and outs of the IRL team during the month of May and have them host us here yesterday,” said Intrepid factory driver and former Infiniti Pro series race winner Phil Giebler.
“Even though I’ve been to the Speedway a lot I’ve never been escorted by an IRL team before and gotten recognition from the media like that,” said Indianapolis area hometown favorite and GP factory driver Kyle Wiegand.
