ILLINOIS CARNIVAL/AMUSEMENT SAFETY BOARD CHANGES

Springfield, Illinois — The makeup of the Illinois Carnival and Amusement Safety Board has changed dramatically as of May 12. Patricia Sullivan, a carnival ride manufacturer, has been appointed to the board replacing Darrell Sitarz from Kart Marketing Group who had been on the board for 10 years.

“I feel I have brought a new dimension to the board that was missing before joining the group, that being the understanding of the amusement karting industry including the newest product, Indoor Karting,” said Darrell Sitarz. “The board put in a lot of time and effort in the last 4 years revising and updating the go-kart rules for the State of Illinois. I regret that I will not be on the board to see the new rules implemented.”

Another appointment, Daniel Driskill of Spectacular Midways, replaced Mrs. Deborah Pusey, a longtime board member. Another longtime board member, Mr. Lee Sullivan, a structural engineer, retired from the board last year. The board requires an engineer as part of the board, a position which is still vacant. Other current members of the board are Nick Dispensa, Chairman, and Art Ludwig, Director of the Illinois Department of Labor.

The Illinois Carnival/Amusement Safety Board determines the safety rules and regulations for all amusements in the State of Illinois. All rental (concession) go-kart tracks and vehicles must comply to the Illinois rules and regulations and are inspected on an annual basis. This includes stand-alone tracks, both indoor and outdoor, as well as tracks in amusement parks and temporary courses.
