FIRSTKART.COM ADDS SEVERAL PODIUMS AT SRFKC

Guelph, Ontario, Canada — The First Kart North America squad scored several podium results this past weekend at the opening round of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship (SRFKC) held at Goodwood Kartways. Lead driver and senior rookie Daniel Morad scored his first Canadian victory of the 2005 season and led the team in some strong results.

Morad began his assault on the field securing the Formula Senior pole in the second round of qualifying. The talented rookie took charge from the drop of the green flag and was passed only once. Running second for most of the event, the 15-year-old was able to match pace with the leader. A bold move under braking allowed Morad and his SRA TM powered First Kart to slip into the lead and onto victory.

Also scoring a podium result was Eric Gerrits in the Rotax Senior class. Gerrits was strong all weekend long and scored the pole in the first round of qualifying. An on-track incident had his fastest lap taken away but the Sharon, ON resident was unfazed by the result and bettered his time in the second round of time trials. Gerrits led most of the event before lap traffic allowed a fellow competitor to slip by and as Gerrits was mounting a charge for the lead the checkered flag flew.

Kevin Montieth was the First Kart junior driver of the weekend as the talented youngster scored two second place results. Montieth was able to score second in the Rotax Junior class as well as Junior Heavy where he started outside row four. Montieth fought hard all weekend long and was rewarded for his hard work with a good start towards the run for Ontario’s regional championship. Jonmichael Ostella also claimed the fifth place position in the Rotax Junior class.

Davis Ostella had a strong run in the Formula Junior class after qualifying on the front row. The young driver lead early in the race before a carburetor problem took him out of contention while leading. Ostella has impressed a lot of people this year and is destined to get his first big win in the very near future.

The FirstKart.com race team will be back on track this coming weekend for the second round of the Stars of Karting East Championship at New Castle Motorsports Park in central Indiana. Results will be distributed as soon as they are available.
