RED BULL DRIVER SEARCH SUPPORTS UYRS
New York City, New York — The Red Bull Driver Search is supporting the Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS), which will hold the first karting Grand Prix of Philadelphia on Saturday, 30 April. The event expands the reach of the Driver Search program while supporting UYRS in their efforts to introduce motor racing to America’s urban youth.
The Grand Prix of Philadelphia takes place on Ben Franklin Parkway in front of the Art Museum in Center City starting at 12 noon. UYRS Driver Performance level students, ages 13-17, will race against each other in karts capable of reaching 90+ mph on Philadelphia city streets.
The Urban Youth Racing School is dedicated to giving disadvantaged, inner-city youth more opportunity and a chance to enhance their life skills by using motor sports as the magnet and education as the compass. UYRS is committed to making diversity, educational and youth issues a national priority.
Since its inception in 1998, UYRS has had over 900 children go through their 10 week "Build A Dream" and "Team Development" Programs involving over 40 mentors who have been a part of the school for over 5 years.
The UYRS is a compliment to the Red Bull Driver Search, a Program that strives to discover and support talented young racecar drivers. The goal of the Driver Search is to develop young drivers in a junior racing series in Europe and ultimately put American drivers back in Formula 1 racing.
