KART SHOP OWNER MAKES HIS MARK IN ANOTHER SPORT
Schaumburg, Illinois — The Motorola International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Pro National Championships were held in Schaumburg, IL on April 20-24, 2005. This was also a Regional qualifying tournament for the 38th USA Racquetball (USAR) National Singles Championships to be held in Houston, TX from May 25-30. The TeamEktelon and Landmark Health Club racquetball player Jim Maroon of Peoria won the 50+ B Division in the U.S. Racquetball Association (USRA) Regional Championships. Maroon is the owner of Maroon’s Kart Systems in East Peoria, Illinois.
Maroon played and won three matches during the weekend to get to 1st place. Jim will travel to Houston to play in the USAR Nationals at the end of May.
This came on the heels of taking 1st place in the Illinois State Racquetball Association (ISRA) 33rd Annual State Singles Championships in February 25-27, 2005 at The Chalet in Willow Springs, IL. Jim won the Men’s 50+ B Championship by winning over three Chicago-area players in tournament match play. He is sponsored by Ektelon and is a racquetball instructor at Landmark Health Club in Peoria. This was Jim’s second Illinois State championship title. In 2004 Jim and Kelly Carter of Bloomington won the Mixed Doubles title in Mixed B. In January 2005 the doubles team finished second in the State in Mixed A.
