Lausitz, Germany - The second race of the 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R Cup takes place next weekend at the awesome EuroSpeedway in Lausitz, Germany. America's Timmy Megenbier, driving the Caputo/Rahal Foods Scirocco is currently in 8th place after only one race and seeks to improve at the ultra-modern facility.

Eurospeedway is comprised of a 2-mile (NASCAR/Indy style) High-speed Tri-Oval which surrounds more than 3 miles of winding roadcourse. The Scirocco R Cup will use portions of the Oval as well as the Roadcourse this upcoming weekend.

The Lausitz facility seats up to 120,000 spectators around the big tri-oval and Megenbier is expected be racing in front of more than 70,000 as the Scirocco R Cup runs on the same weekend as the wildly-popular German Touring Cars Series (DTM.)

The Scirocco R Cup race weekend will actually consist of two points-races, the first on Sat., June 4 and the second on Sun., June 5.  

Timmy Megenbier is the only American competing in Volkswagen's Scirocco R Cup, which is a premiere series for the corporation and features groundbreaking CNG-powered engines for the first time in motorsports.

The first race event was at Germany's famed Hockenheim racecourse where Timmy was 3rd fastest in practice; qualified 9th and finished 8th overall. The series features 30 drivers from around the world and is a key component of Volkswagen's growing motorsport program.
