AVON TYRES BRITISH GT CHAMPIONSHIP - May 11, 2010 | |
Round 2: Knockhill, 8-9 May Knockhill, United Kingdon - David and Godfrey Jones ignited their Avon Tyres British GT Championship title defence with a pair of victories in round two at Knockhill. The twins stamped their authority on race one, leading from pole position to the checkered flag aboard their Ascari. Chris Hyman gave chase until handing his Ferrari over to team-mate Dan Brown on lap 27, at which point their charge was halted by gearbox trouble. Matt Griffin and Duncan Cameron thus collected the runner-up spot. However, on this occasion they were accompanied by controversy stemming from a controversial clash with championship leader Griffin’s Ferrari. The incident forced the latter into retirement and a protest was lodged; the results are therefore provisional while an investigation is carried out. Second place went to Argentine duo Jose Balbiani and Juan Garriz ahead of early leaders Adam Wilcox and Phil Burton, whose result is also provisional following a coming-together with Glynn Geddie's Porsche.
