MSA BRITISH LONG CIRCUIT (SUPERKART) CHAMPIONSHIP - April 20, 2010

Round 1: Silverstone, 18th April

Former champion Jason Dredge (pictured) opened his 2010 MSA British Superkart Championship account with victory at Silverstone.

Dredge, the 2008 title winner, lost out to reigning champion James O’Reilly in qualifying but profited when the latter had an incident with Paul Platt on lap 2. The race went from bad to worse for O’Reilly, who then clashed with Paul Whalley and fell to ninth place at the finish.

Martin Jones denied Dredge a clean sweep by nursing an unhealthy engine to win race two, though Dredge’s second place was enough to secure his place atop the early championship standings. Also starring was Paul Platt, who came through from row 17 on the grid to take fifth place at the checkered flag.
