Ouimet Sweeps Rotax Senior; Earns KF2 Podiums;Wimsett (Rotax Sr.) & Geise (KF3) Earn Podiums Braintree, Massachusetts – Team SSC East/CRG got the 2010 campaign off to a roaring start this past weekend at round one of the CKI Florida Cup, with 2 wins and a total of 7 podium finishes. Among the highlights of the 2 race weekend was Arie Ouimet’s sweep of the Rotax Senior class, putting him on top of the series points race to win a 2010 Mazda3. The combined 7 podiums puts SSC East in lead for series-long “Most Podium Finishes” team competition – the winning team will take home $7,500. Strong performances were submitted by SSC East members in several classes, including: Rotax Senior: Ouimet (pictured) was impressive winning both Rotax Senior finals in a deep and talented field of racers. In Saturday’s 25-lap final he outlasted a familiar competitor, Taylor Miinch, to win by 0.162 seconds. On Sunday he cruised to 3 second victory over Alex Speed. SSC East team newcomer Joey Wimsett performed well in his first race on a new chassis, earning a 3rd place podium in Saturday’s final and hanging on for a top 10 finish on Sunday. KF2: Ouimet had a strong showing in a tough KF2 class as well. On Saturday he took second after a tense battle for the top spot, and Sunday he claimed the third place podium spot. Fellow team member Madeline Komar had success as well, landing top 10 finishes both Saturday and Sunday. KF3: SSC East had strong performances in KF3, highlighted by Camden Geise. Consistently fast both days, Geise took 2nd place in both Saturday’s and Sunday’s finals. Teammate Evan Komar, in his first race on the SSC East team, claimed a top 5 result in Sunday’s Final after some tough luck DQ’d him in Saturday’s final. “We kicked off the 2010 season at Homestead with a great weekend in first round of the CKI Florida Cup,” states Dave Davies, SSC East Director of Operations. “Chalk it up to great equipment, a super job in the tent by our tuners and some terrific racing from all the drivers. We look forward more dominating weekends this season.” Photo courtesy of On Track Promotions |
