MANAGEMENT TEAM
Michael Munson, Founder
& CEO—
Michael has a strong
background in the sports and event marketing world and has been on both
the selling and buying side of the sponsorship process. Prior to founding
Sponsorwise he worked at Foote, Cone and Belding Sports Marketing in San
Francisco, where he screened sponsorship opportunities for AT&T Wireless
and Zima, and developed sponsorship strategies for the Oakland A's and
Fan Ownership Football. Prior to joining FCB, Michael wrote his Masters'
Thesis on a study of sponsorship effectiveness from a consumer standpoint,
published in IEG Sponsorship Report. Michael has worked for the San Jose
Saber Cats of the Arena Football League in ticket and sponsorship sales
and had valuable experiences at university recreation programs and non-profits
managing events and raising funds to support them. Michael has strong analytical,
communication, and leadership skills, and solid understanding and vision
for how information technology will impact the sponsorship world. Mr. Munson
earned his Masters in Sports Management from the University of San Francisco.
Russell Hinds, Founder,
VP Operations & CFO—
Russell Hinds brings
over 17 years of finance, business and technical experience to the Sponsorwise
team. From April 1998 to May 2000, Mr. Hinds held several positions with
Virage Logic Corp., a provider of embedded memory technologies that power
the Internet and communications infrastructure. He served as Manager of
Applications Engineering and Technical Marketing in 1998 and Manager of
Business Development and Foundry Relations in 1999. From 1992 to 1998,
Mr. Hinds was President of RSH Investments, an investment and management
company focused on Real Estate and Technology. Mr. Hinds was responsible
for all financial aspects of evaluating, acquiring and overseeing a $6
Million portfolio of properties. Mr. Hinds received his BS EECS/MSE from
University of California Berkeley in 1984, and an MS EECS from UC Berkeley
in 1985. Additionally he has completed executive training courses at Stanford
University.
Richard Plummer-Raphael,
Vice President of Sales—
Richard has over 15 years
experience in corporate sales including the last 10 years at the senior
management level. His extensive background includes both traditional and
Internet enterprises. Richard spent 12 years leading corporate sales for
Valley Media including five years as Vice President of National Sales,
where he helped grow revenues from $20,000,000 to $300,000,000 serving
clients including: Best Buy Stores, Musicland, Sears, Tower Records, Toys
R Us, The Wherehouse, and many others. Richard brings a proven track record
in business development, negotiations, and sales management to Sponsorwise.
Burt Cummings, VP Marketing—
Burt was most recently
co-founder and CEO of GoCampus, Inc., a startup company focused on delivering
an ASP solution to college campuses allowing them to develop e-newsletters
targeted to individual faculty, alumni, parents and students. Prior to
that,
Burt was the VP and GM of Brand Dialogue, the interactive arm for Young
& Rubicam, transitioning to that job from Executive Director for Interactive,
Landor Associates (a Y&R company) wherein he oversaw the creation and
branding of commercial web sites for Fortune 500 customers. He was formerly
head of sales and marketing of Higher Education at Apple Computer, Inc.,
as well as at Eagle River Interactive. Burt was also Director of Sales
Programs at NeXT. Burt graduated cum laude from UC San Diego with a BS
in Computer Science.
