GIVE ‘EM ALL YOU CAN!

When writing your sponsorship proposal, you need to remember sponsors are not “donating” money or product to you just for the fun of it. Yes, sometimes you may be able to obtain sponsorship from friends “just to help your racing effort”, but corporate sponsors — giant corporations to your local gasoline distributor — want value in return. 

When we designed the sponsorship proposal for Kart Expo International, we decided to offer three levels—associate, major and title (the most valuable). The value of the levels are based on the benefits that we offer a prospective sponsor—the larger the sponsorship, the more benefits.  You can do the same for your sponsor – but be honest with what you can offer –and if possible, be sure the value worth substantially MORE than the dollar amount you’re asking.

Below is a copy of the current Kart Expo title sponsorship proposal—title meaning the sponsor’s name is ahead of the program’s name, i.e., XYZ INC. Kart Expo International. This is common practice—most sporting events have title sponsors, i.e., The Coca Cola 500, Ameritec Invitational, even sports stadiums have title sponsors, too. 
 

The show will be titled: THE 2003 (YOUR COMPANY NAME) KART EXPO INTERNATIONAL

The following are TITLE SPONSORSHIP benefits:

1 YOUR COMPANY will have featured exposure during any motorsports programming that Kart Expo may be involved in.

2 YOUR COMPANY’s title position will be featured in print advertising in karting, motorsports and greater Chicago-area publications prior to Kart Expo.

3 YOUR COMPANY’s title position and logo will be featured on a Worldwide Web page dedicated to Kart Expo.

4 YOUR COMPANY’s title position will be prominent on electronic or static signage (if any) provided by the Pheasant Run Resort and Convention Center, prior to and during Kart Expo.

5 YOUR COMPANY’s title position will be included, wherever possible, in all community event calendar listings and publications in the greater-Chicago area.

6 YOUR COMPANY’s name and logo will appear in all press releases to consumer, trade and motorsport media in the USA and internationally.

7 YOUR COMPANY’s name and logo will appear on the cover and inside pages of a minimum of 45,000 Expo brochures distributed throughout the karting industry and to the public.

8 YOUR COMPANY will receive a feature article in e-KMI.com, the karting industry on-line “magazine”, which is broadcast over the Internet.

9 YOUR COMPANY will be prominently mentioned in all print and electronic media interviews.

10 YOUR COMPANY will receive a feature article in the Kart Expo show program distributed throughout the exposition.

11 Expo personnel will wear YOUR COMPANY’s logo cap and/or shirt during all Expo related media photo sessions and television interviews prior to the show.

12 YOUR COMPANY will receive one 10’ x 40’ (400 sq. ft.) booth space or 20’ x20’ island space at the show. Note: Additional space will be available at 50% of the published prices.

13 YOUR COMPANY may have first choice of exhibition space location.

14 As a title sponsor, YOUR COMPANY will receive product exclusivity as it relates to other sponsors.

15 YOUR COMPANY may display unlimited signage (within reason) at KART EXPO in the exhibition hall during the show.

16 YOUR COMPANY’s name or logo will appear on the show entrance signage.

17 A hand-stamp with YOUR COMPANY name or logo will be used for attendee re-admittance to the exhibition hall throughout the run of the show.

18. YOUR COMPANY will receive public address mentions during the exhibition.

19 YOUR COMPANY may conduct product sampling or literature distribution at or near the entrance of the exhibition hall.

20 YOUR COMPANY may conduct a daily meeting or seminar for up to sixty minutes during the exposition.

21 As a title sponsor, YOUR COMPANY will be granted a license to use the Kart Expo logo in its print advertising to promote its involvement in the event.

22 YOUR COMPANY will receive VIP passes for all personnel.

23. YOUR COMPANY will receive VIP parking passes for all personnel.
 

After reading the sample above, I think you have an idea of what you can do with your program, too. Be creative, be innovative, think out of the box, but give ‘em all you can!
