  • ROTAX CHAMPIONSHIP DATES SET

  • The Rotax Max Challenge World Grand Finals is set for January 21-27, 2002 at the Morac International Karting Circuit in Langkawi, Malaysia. See full story in FYI.
     
  • RACE TRACK CLOSES

  • Chicago’s own Raceway Park, a ¼ mile asphalt oval has closed its doors after six decades to make room for, you guessed it, a shopping center. The track was home to Late models, Semi-pros, Street Stocks and karting.  This is the second track to close in the past few years, the first being Santa Fe Speedway. Oddly enough, two out and two in – the Chicago Motor Speedway opened two years ago and Chicagoland Speedway, a NASCAR track will open this summer. Now all metro-Chicago needs is a kart track!
     
  • MO-KAN RACE CANCELLED

  • The first race of the Mo-Kan Sprint series scheduled to be held at Carrollton, Missouri on March 31-Aprin1 has been canceled due to a track sale, lack of sanctioning and no insurance. For more info call 816-358-0875.
     
  • IRISH INSTALL TRACK TIMING

  • The following Irish kart tracks have installed Alfano Chronometric pick-up loops for electronic timing: Mondello, Tynagh, Watergrasshill, Athboy and Edgeworthstown. Quinn Racing is now the official importer of the systems for Ireland.
     
  • NEW AREA CODE

  • Neway Manufacturing, Corunna, Michigan has announced that their area code will change as of April 7, 2001.  The new area code is 989.  Their phone will be: 989-743-3458, fax: 989-743-5764
     
  • NEW WEB SITE

  • Spokesperson Mary-Ann Horley says that World Champion Lewis Hamilton has a new web site: www.lewishamilton.com. 
     
  • A GLOBAL MARKETPLACE

  • Another Chinese kart manufacturer has contacted e-KMI.com.  Hans Dou at Dochem Industries Co Ltd. says they have a number of different fun, concession and racing karts and a line apparel available. They also go on to say that they can manufacture product to your specifications.
