GO-KART TRACK OPERATIONS SURVEY
At the present time, the future of indoor kart racing is somewhat under a cloud due to a lot of misinformation, lack of credible data and confusion as to how people currently operating indoor facilities actually operate and market their wares. Clarification of the industry, its performance to date, types of markets with a realistic potential for success, types of operations, annual attendance and related issues can be of great benefit to the industry as a whole. Failures of existing facilities, whether in the right markets or not, having the right approaches to marketing or not, or other reasons; all have a negative impact on the potential success of the indoor racing industry. There reasons for the current state of the industry are numerous and understandable. They include: 1. Proprietary interests of manufacturers and operators in not reveling either their successes or failures in addressing their particular markets. 2. Comments by some in the concession kart industry not directly associated with the indoor industry. These may include incorrect or third-hand information from sources that are not completely informed. 3. Attitudes of some individuals in the indoor kart racing marketplace that feel European standards and operating procedures may or may not be applicable in the United States. 4. Lack of an organization developed to further the interests and development of realistic safety and operating standards for the indoor kart racing industry. 5. Failure of facilities constructed in markets that were too small, poorly located, under capitalized, mismanaged or lacking a realistic marketing program, all cast a very negative image of the industry. As a e-zine and web site dedicated to the entire go-kart industry e-KMI.com would like to assemble as much information as possible from existing indoor kart racing facilities to help clear up the existing morass of misinformation and to provide potential developers of indoor racing facilities realistic information for their consideration in determining whether to proceed. To accomplish this, we would like to publish a report as soon as possible, which could present more factual information than is presently available in an unbiased format. This can only be done with the cooperation of the people in the industry. We have developed a short questionnaire that asks what we feel are pertinent questions surrounding the industry and its potential success. Information assembled from the questionnaires returned to our office would be used to develop the report. This report would hopefully be developed as a table of information covering the existing facilities in operation in the industry today. It would also include comments from designers, operators and manufacturers pertaining to their vision of the future of the sport. Click Here for: INDOOR GO-KART TRACK OPERATIONS SURVEY END
