Hillsboro, New Hampshire – The International Association for the Leisure and Entertainment Industry (IALEI) recently presented Mountasia Family Fun Center, of Santa Clarita, California, with its Golden Token Award for Most Creative Promotion. The award was received during the co-located Fun Expo and AMOA Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mountasia’s winning promotion was TV-Turnoff Week and the event’s slogan was “Break Free of TV”. Mountasia Family Fun Center prepared a plan of action to host TV-Turnoff Week, a program started by an organization called TV-Free America. Mountasia’s objective was to become more actively involved with their local community, improve their relationship with local schools and administrators, and to promote their interest in family values and education. To achieve this result, the Mountasia staff planned a week-long schedule of activities and provided their promotional materials to local schools for distribution. In exchange for agreeing to keep their television off for one week, children received from their teachers a certificate and a free pass to Mountasia. Some of the additional activities taking place during TV-Turnoff Week were magic and clowning performances, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations and lessons, roller skating lessons, gymnastic basics, music, games and give-aways.
