New York City, New York — The Red Bull Driver Search is truly unique in all of motorsports-- finding, funding, and nurturing American talent in the pursuit of the next American Formula 1 World Champion. The Program has already shown remarkable success, with Scott Speed winning both the Eurocup and German Formula Renault Championships this season, with Red Bull Junior Teammate Colin Fleming taking Rookie of the Year honors in the German Championship and finishing second in points. Young John Edwards hopes to follow in their footsteps and make it to the pinnacle of the sport with Red Bull support. Young American John Edwards, from Little Rock, Arkansas has been selected as the winner in the 2004 Red Bull Driver Search after being selected in the Final round, held at the Autodromo Fernanda Pires Da Silva circuit in Estoril, Portugal. Edwards, who is all of thirteen years old, impressed the Red Bull judges with his dedication and potential after two days of fitness training at the Red Bull Diagnostics & Training Center in Thalgau, Austria and testing in Alan Docking Racing-prepared Formula 3 cars on the former Formula 1 race circuit. All of the 2004 Finalists were coached by Colin Fleming, who was on hand for the event to set baseline times in the Formula 3 car and to help the finalists in the high-pressure environment. The Red Bull Driver Search
program aims to discover and support the "diamond in the rough," lacking
the knowledge and contacts needed to embark on a career in racing, as well
as talented young drivers already in racing. The long-term goal is to have
a steady group of three to six American drivers racing in Europe, groomed
to break into Formula 1 and compete for the World Championship.

AMUSEMENT INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
SET TO TEE IT UP, PLACE BIDS, AND RAISE $50,000 FOR ‘GIVE KIDS THE WORLD’
The Give Kids the World Charity Golf Tournament is organized by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). IAAPA is holding its largest worldwide gathering—the IAAPA Orlando 2004 Annual Convention and Trade Show—at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando from November 15-20, 2004 (www.iaapaorlando.com). “Everyone interested in playing should contact IAAPA as soon as possible. We’re almost sold out,” said Clark Robinson, IAAPA president. Tickets for the tournament cost $150, and the entire event is scheduled to raise approximately $20,000 for the charity. A car will be given to the first person who hits a ‘hole in one’. Mystic Dunes is a new course built amidst scenic, rolling orange groves and native, protected wetlands, and was ranked as one of Orlando’s Top 5 Courses by FloridaGolfGuide.com, and rated four stars by Golf Digest. The Give Kids the World Charity Golf Tournament is chaired by industry veterans Bill Alter, Ed Carroll, Jr., and John Graff. IAAPA will also hold a silent auction to benefit Give Kids the World on the IAAPA Orlando 2004 trade show floor. Attendees can bid on a multitude of items--- including a 7-day Windstar Cruise for two to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Isla De Utila, West End Roatan, Puerto Cortz, and Belize City--- with all proceeds benefiting the Village. A similar silent auction at IAAPA Orlando 2003 raised $30,000. Give Kids the World is
an organization that fulfills the wishes of terminally ill children and
their families by providing for each “wish” family a week of cost-free
fun at the Give Kids the World Village—an enchanting destination that features
amusement rides, round-the-clock ice cream, costumed characters, and day-trips
to theme parks.
“We are continually grateful
for the support of the worldwide amusement industry,” said Pamela Landwirth,
president and CEO of Give Kids the World, “We look forward to the golf
tournament and the silent auction and sent our deepest thanks to everyone
who is participating.”
