WKA CANCELS CIK PORTION OF NAKC Concord, North Carolina - The World Karting Association (WKA) has announced that the CIK or international portion of the North America Karting Championships (NAKC) scheduled for November 1-5, 2000 has been cancelled. WKA president Randy Kugler stated, “As president and COB of the World Karting Association it is important for me to make decisions that are best for the organization. Keeping that in mind, it is with great regret that I must announce that the CIK portion of the NAKC has been cancelled. The current count is very low for Formula A and there are no entries for Intercontinental Junior.” Kugler continued, “This event has been very prestigious over the years. It would not be in the best interest of WKA to attempt to host this event if the prestige is lost.” The NAKC event itself will continue at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on November 1-5 and will include the Briggs & Stratton 300, North American Sprint Track Championship and the Dunlop Tire Enduro Championship. The cancellation of the
CIK portion of the NAKC comes on the heels of another WKA series cancellation,
that of the Constructor’s Cup Series. According to WKA, “There is a tremendous
amount of this type of kart racing already going on throughout the country.
It is our feeling that this program would only dilute that even further.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.” For more information
