THE WKA WEEKLY RACING SERIES IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY
Concord, North Carolina — The WKA Weekly Racing Series is officially underway. Speedway tracks, Southern Pitt and Margarettsville, have logged in their first events and sent in results with some impressive numbers. Over 50 drivers have already accumulated points and established their RPM. Twenty-five tracks will ultimately make up the inaugural WKA Weekly Racing Series. Spread out over two divisions, Sprint and Speedway, and two geographical regions, it is full speed ahead for the 2004 season. Results and points standing will be posted once complete.

A question that continues to come up is whether a driver needs to be a WKA Master Member for $55 and a WRS Member for $25. The answer is no. The driver need only be one or the other. If you are already a WKA Master or Associate membership, you do not need to join as a WRS Member. If you are not a member and wish to join, your options are to join as a WKA Master Member (receiving WKA's ‘Karting Scene’ magazine, the WKA Tech Manual, and license to compete at the Divisional and National levels) or join as a WRS Member and be licensed to compete at WRS events only. A WRS membership may be upgraded to a WKA membership within the first 60 days by contacting WKA Headquarters and paying an additional $35. For info call 704-455-1606

ANONYMOUS COMPANY DONATES KARTS TO RACING CAMP
Cornelius, Oregon — Ten high performance racing karts were donated to Victory Racing Camp by a Los Angeles, California company, providing the local Christian residence camp with national draw the ability to expand their programs for 11-18 year olds to include more campers, weekend retreats for teens and a parent, and the basis for a camp for teens that have lost limbs by disease or accident.

The company, that prefers to remain anonymous, spoke with Camp Director Dave Glass at length to make sure the program and motivation behind it was safe and effective, before deciding to participate.

"We are happy to be able to provide this support for Victory Racing Camp," said a spokesman for the company. "We believe they have the opportunity and a program and staff that will encourage and inspire kids who are going through some potentially rough years."

"We are just blown away by their generosity!" said Glass. "Not having our own fleet of karts was a major roadblock between where we are now and our plans for helping teens and their families. With the fleet in place, we are already looking at adding at least one Father-son and Mother-daughter weekend that we will use to strengthen relationships between teens and their folks. Also, we will be working with prosthetics experts to provide alternate hand or foot controls for the karts, essential for working with youth that have certain types of limb deficiencies. With the incredible support from donors like these, we are able to move our plans ahead by one or two years! Even more, it allows us to reallocate funds that were earmarked for karts to provide other support, like providing camperships for underprivileged or inner city teens to attend, who could not normally afford to."

Victory Racing Camp's summer includes six weeks of camp, from June 21 through July, racing at Pat's Acres Karting Complex in Canby, Oregon, busing the campers to the campgrounds of Camp Adams or Molalla Retreat in Molalla. Up to 45 campers per week are taught the basic skills of auto racing, which they get to practice for 4 hours each day at the track. When not at the track, they will meet professional race drivers from NASCAR, NHRA, Grand Am, and other series to hear their inspirational stories. Campers are challenged to learn to work together as a team, solving group initiatives by finding the strengths in each other. Victory Racing Camp's desire is to emotionally, spiritually, and mentally equip the teens for a life of success.

Victory Racing Camp is in its second year of operations. Last year, Portland's Monte Shelton Motor Company, Ferrari Spa in Italy, and Brand X Racing Art in Canada helped sponsor the camp.

Victory Racing Camp is the camping arm of Victory Retreat Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered in Washington and Oregon States. Victory Racing Camp exists to encourage and help teens find success in life through the excitement of auto racing and biblical principles.

For more information on Victory Racing Camp's high performance residence camp, please contact Victory Racing Camp via email at info@TeamVRC.org, or by phone 503-640-1199. See Victory Racing Camp on the web at http://www.TeamVRC.org.
