FALL MAINTENANCE MEANS A LONGER, USEFUL LIFE FOR YOUR FUN KART!
The best way to keep your fun kart in top-notch condition is through proper maintenance. The new 70% cleaner engines will be more likely to stay running, run cleaner, last longer and operate at their best efficiency if they are treated right. Now that the summer season is history, it’s time to prepare your fun kart for winter storage. But before putting it away for the winter, we recommend taking several steps that will help your kart store well and perform at its peak next spring. 1. Fill the fuel take completely and add a fuel stabilizer or additive for extended storage. A half-full tank can attract condensation, adding harmful water to the fuel. 2. Start the engine and let run for about 30 seconds. This will get some of the stabilized fuel into the carburetor and help eliminate build-up inside the carb. 3. Drain and replace the oil with the recommended amount and weight oil. Remember, dispose of the old oil properly. 4. Disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the spark plug and squirt a small amount of oil directly into the cylinder. Now, slowing turn the engine over by pulling the recoil rope and few times. Reinstall the spark plug and attach plug cap. 5. With a damp rag or sponge, clean the kart of dirt, grass and leaves and dry. Then, with automotive wax, lightly wax all painted surfaces (and the engine, too). Don’t have automotive wax available, use spray household wax like Pledge). 6. Lubricate the chain with chain lube or regular engine oil. This will keep the chain from rusting over the winter. 7. Check all four tire and add the proper amount of air per instructions on the tires or owners manual. 8. If your kart has a battery, remove it and fully charge it for winter storage. 9. Spray a light coating of WD-40 on all movable chassis and engine parts. 10. Cover the kart with a kart cover or small tarpaulin. 11. Always refer to the kart operator’s manual for important and specific details regarding extended storage. Your fun kart is now ready
for storage and should be ready to go in the spring. All you’ll have to
do is check the tires, pull the recoil, put on your helmet and you’ll be
ready to go and have fun!
