FUN ON WHEELS

Ah Spring! It’s time to think FUN KARTS! – In farmlands, secluded streets, parking lots and wide open spaces, fun karts offer an exhilarating experience, truly ‘fun on wheels’. Many youngsters and adults around the world enjoy the pleasures of driving fun karts, while many dream of the day they will own one. Each year, fun karts are an increasingly popular item on Christmas and Holiday lists and are frequently an ‘impulse’ buy where they are displayed and sold.

In terms of the younger set, fun karts provide valuable learning experiences as well as recreation. Under adult supervision, youngsters can learn how to drive, understand how to operate mechanical equipment and gain the discipline to follow safety procedures.

Fun karts are a natural for established kart racing shops, lawn and garden outlets, hardware and outdoor power equipment stores and motorcycle dealers — virtually any business that deals with small engines and the general public. In general, FUN KARTS are easy to sell, offer high profit margins and fill a void in the winter months when sales of other equipment and parts are usually down.

As with all products, marketing is, of course, the key to sales success. Some fun kart manufacturers offer signage and point of purchase (POP) displays that enable several karts to be shown in a small area of display space. A sure eye-catcher is displaying fun karts outside a store – where passersby will see them and realize that they are available.

Product literature is also important to fun kart sales and it should be readily available at the display point. Nearly every manufacturer has attractive 4-color brochures available.

Ease of sale, a simple parts inventory and substantial profits all add up to a high value product line. Dealers are urged to check out the wide variety of products and marketing programs available. Fun karts offer a clean, family-oriented activity that is truly affordable.

AFKA LEADS THE WAY FOR THE FUN KART INDUSTRY
The mission of the American Fun Kart Association (AFKA) is to responsibly expand the sport of fun karting by establishing responsible standards for fun kart design and usage, and educating consumers about safe use of fun karts.

U.S. fun kart manufacturers and suppliers have been working closely with the ASTM and CPSC to create uniform standards of the design, manufacturer and use of fun karts.
