This and That! By Darrell Sitarz, Editor |

First of all - I would like to thank all who took the time to call, e-mail and write snail mail letters regarding the first “issue” of e-KMI.com. Initial reaction from readers has been very, very positive and has reconfirmed our rational regarding the conversion from print to the Internet. So far, the gathering news on a weekly basis has been amazingly easy since there are so many things happening out there that need to be reported on. I hope it continues! But, please don’t stop sending us news, information and new products because we don’t have dozens of reporters working the wires… yet. e-KMI.com is also in a unique position to report on events, large and small, happening around the world, not just here in the States. But, U.S. readers need to remember that the old KMI was a national print magazine, while e-KMI.com is a global commodity, read world-wide. Case in point. A couple of weeks ago, we reported on a new 4-cycle clutch in a short piece in News Briefs. Within days, the owner of the clutch company called with the news that he had received calls from both the USA and from Europe. Needless to say, he was very happy and is in the process of becoming an advertiser. Advertising on the web works! Last week, we were fortunate to add Mr. Tom Argy Jr. as our national and international field reporter/correspondent. Although we have lofty, but realistic aspirations of becoming the “CNN” of karting news and information, we’re far from that at this point, but having Tom on our staff brings us one step closer. His perspective both on national concerns as well as from the international side will add much to our quality. Next month as previously reported, we will be adding a new section devoted to national and international association news and information. It will be titled “Association News” (clever isn’t it?) and will include meeting dates and other essential information that for some reason is delegated to one line here or there in print magazines or newsletters. In many cases this type of news is lost in the clutter of ads and lengthy text. Hopefully with this information, we’ll be able to increase participation at some of the important meetings both here and overseas. Another new column which will be added next month is “Expo Update”. In the print publication, this was a monthly feature during the months prior to the show, but it is now felt that with the permanent show location and date, that readers will want to know what is happening in regards to the free seminar schedule, special guests and the all important exhibitor list. For your information, the upcoming show appears to be on track to be the best ever. To date, we have a number of exhibitors doubling or tripling their booth space size and a number of new exhibitors as many in the racing community are beginning to realize that trade shows are the best ROI (Return On Investment) for their advertising dollar. And remember, the show here in the Midwest is not just for the shifter or 2-cycle crowd. The Chicago area may not be North Carolina, but there is a huge amount of LTO racing in the Midwest, and somebody’s selling the karts and parts to these racers. That’s it for now. Take care and again, thank you for your support and encouragement. Darrell Sitarz END
