| SAFETY
AND RACING FLAGS
Safety is a major concern in kart racing. Karting has one of the best safety records among all forms of motorsports, and uses a strong set of rules to tenaciously preserve this positive position. Why is karting so safe? In addition to the mandatory equipment, most kart tracks are designed specifically for karting with plenty of run-off and safety barriers to protect drivers. Track and club officials usually strictly enforce rules against rough driving and bumping. Track and club officials,
to ensure that the participants are meeting all safety rules for the equipment,
perform pre-race “tech” inspections at each organized event. Karts, with
their low center of gravity, inherently lend themselves to safety by usually
keeping themselves “rubber side down” and on the track.
FLAGS There are seven basic racing flags, which are designed as instant visual notification for drivers and spectators alike. They are: GREEN
YELLOW
RED
BLUE
BLACK
WHITE
CHECKERED
If you have any questions about the usage of flags, please ask the track director at your facility. He or She will be happy to assist you. RACE SAFE!
