CONCESSION CORNER
SIGN, SIGN, EVERYWHERE A SIGN!
Good signage is part of running a modern business that deals with the public, particularly in the family entertainment business. Signs not only inform and direct the public, but also deal with the issue of risk management and can reduce liability exposure. There is no greater need for good signage than in the concession kart business.

In the past, good quality signage was often expensive and often lacked important graphics. Today, many concession kart companies offer a full line of kart track signs at economical prices. These signs deal with most issues and problems inherent in the FEC business, such as; No Bumping, Remain Seated, Seat Belts, No U-Turns, One Lap to Go, Proceed into the pit area, warnings dealing with good health issues, back problems, and pregnancy, and the all-important track rules. There are also general signs that deal with the issues of risk management, traffic control, parking, parties and birthdays, special promotions and general business operation.

Today’s signs are easy to read with bold lettering and graphics and many are printed in two colors for additional impact. Quality signs are printed on durable, high-impact plastic which will hold up to outdoor applications and will not dent, chip or peal.

The issue of liability is on everyone’s mind these days, as well as protection from overzealous lawyers and frivolous claims. By posting proper signage, exposure can be greatly reduced. Many dangerous situations can be avoided and, in the event of a lawsuit, the defendant’s situation will be greatly strengthened by having posted proper rules and policies, especially with claims for “failure to inform”. Many insurance companies, in fact, now require that certain safety rules be posted.
